Well guys and gals it’s almost Turkey Day! That day of gluttony that really celebrates the American Spirit like none other! Huh hum…I just embarrassed myself.
Really we Americans are about a lot more than just over consumption of various and sundry food items – aren’t we?
Honestly it seems like every day is Thanksgiving sometimes in the old US of A. As a society we really know how to pound back the calories – but we can do something about it. So let’s chat a bit about how we can handle the Holidays and not get over stuffed.
-
You’re probably going to overeat on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and sometimes even New Year’s Eve. So instead of trying to fix those days – why don’t we just give in to them? I do. I just give in man, but the next day I’m right back to my calorie guidelines. Right back in the swing of things.

It’s the other days of the year that are getting us. Everyone blames their weight gain on the Holidays – and if you consider the Holidays the span of time between Thanksgiving Day and the New Year then I guess you could say that’s correct. But if you are talking about those 4 measly days – Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve – well, it’s not their fault. Its all the days in between those days that are adding more fruit to our cake, more figgy’s to our pudding, more Partridge to our Pear Tree’s, OK I’m getting carried away here. Let’s just say it’s those other days that are making us shake like a bowl full of jelly.
It’s your coworkers cookies, it’s the lady at churches cheeseball (not that I know anything about that one), it your friends pre Christmas Eve Christmas Eve party…that are gonna make you gain weight. It’s all the celebrating that we do in preparation for the celebrating that gives us more rolls than Chris Cringle.
So my suggestion in this short but sweet (not candy cane sweet) blog is to watch the calories you consume not on HoliDAYS, but on all the days between the Holidays. Trust me things will be great come New Year’s day if you are able to hold off on the treats except on the main Holidays.
You guys take care of yourself and bundle up…now where’s my low fat, no sugar added figgy puddin’ – it was sitting right here a minute ago…
