The History of CE-Fitness Personal Training
Hi everyone, this is Jay Scott – founder and owner of CE-Fitness Personal Training. I’m glad that you are continuing to explore the site. I’ve had quite a few people who’ve expressed interest in how and why I got into the fitness industry – so I thought I’d share my story with you here today.
The Journey Begins
My journey began way back in 1997 – as a senior in high school. Back then the craze was low fat – fat is making you fat, so I began experimenting with my diet. I thought that eliminating all fat from my diet would give me a lean, toned physique. So I went to the store and picked up anything and everything fat free. Candy, cookies, anything that didn’t have fat was fair game.
Soon I came to the realization that this diet was not helping me get lean OR toned, and in fact I was starting to feel very bad. At the time I didn’t know that fat has many useful roles in the body, and I was depriving it of an essential nutrient.
Time For A Change…
Well, it confused and frustrated me that this wasn’t the answer I was looking for – so after a few months of spinning my wheels I went to the local bookstore. I remember staying in there for hours studying books on nutrition and exercise. When I left that store I was a different person. I had seen the light, and although I still was light years behind what I am now – I had the knowledge to actually make a change in my body. 3 months later with a decent diet and exercise program I was in the best shape of my life.
This made me hungry for more and more information about health and fitness, and in 1998 I began studying for the International Sports Sciences Associations Fitness Trainer Program (ISSA). After a couple of months of studying I was finally ready for the exam. It was make or break time – had I learned enough to pass the test? It turns out I had, and I became an ISSA Certified Fitness Trainer at the ripe old age of 19.
After that I began helping family and friends get in shape. This allowed me to hone my skills for what I eventually planned to become my own Personal Training business, however I still wasn’t ready to branch out on my own quite yet. I worked at a local YMCA for a few years, and then after college I began to entertain the idea of starting my own business. Now I had the task of learning to market, publicize, and make a business work.
The Birth Of Jay Scott’s CE-Fitness
Cutting Edge Fitness Solutions was born in 2006. I moved to St. Cloud Florida and trained people in the Orlando area for a period, but I began to miss my family here in KY and decided to return to Lexington in 2009. I decided that Cutting Edge Fitness Solutions was quite a mouthful, and changed the name to the shorter and classier CE-Fitness.
Finding The TRUTH
Around that same time period of 2009 I began to look at a lot of peer reviewed scientific studies instead of listening to the usual “fitness” propaganda that gets perpetuated in the magazines and fitness circles. At this time I was still teaching people to eat and exercise like every other “cookie cutter” trainer – then one day it hit me. The science just wasn’t backing up what the dime a dozen trainers were saying, and I immediately decided it was time for a change. I’m not afraid to admit I’m wrong, and when I found out I was believing things that weren’t true, things that could only be backed up by “because that’s what so and so said”, I knew I had to change as quickly as possible. The whole mission of CE-Fitness changed because of this epiphany. Now CE-Fitness was Science based Fitness Training, not Hearsay based Fitness Training.
SCIENCE Not Hearsay.
But I didn’t stop there, I had to find out if what science had to say actually panned out in the real world. After reading studies about meal frequency I went from the traditional “fitness circle” approach of eating 6 times a day – to eating 3 meals and a protein based snack. There was no negative effects in my physique so I knew that in that instance the science was for real. I cut my protein intake back to 1g per pound of lean body weight with negative effects, so I knew that was OK as well. After trying all the methods on myself, I began using them with clients. And guess what? They all got fantastic results and I’ve changed hundreds of lives with my system.
Not Traditional Personal Training – Personal Training That WORKS.
The thing that’s great about my system is that it flies in the face of traditional Personal Training. Most trainers will have you do copious amounts of needless suffering with absolutely no scientific research to back their theories up. Eating six or eight times a day, working out for hours on end, and eliminating all of your favorite foods is not only unnecessary, but counterproductive. Science tells us that – and if you hear a trainer saying this please don’t invest in them. These trainers are living in the Stone Age. CE-Fitness is the wave of the future where you can keep your favorite foods, exercise a reasonable amount, and still attain the body of your dreams.

Jay’s CE-Fitness is the Cutting Edge of Personal Training. Personal Training that works. Ever wonder how celebrities can go from fat to fab in just a few short months? There is a method to this madness, and unfortunately it isn’t found in a pill or the next “Ab Abber” machine. These gimmicks rob people of valuable money when they could be putting it toward the truth. It takes two key ingredients to get the body of your dreams: Knowledge and Determination. I will give you both. You will learn what works and why. You will be pushed to your limits, but the rewards will be worth every ounce of sweat.
